Myfoodapedia

This is great site for nutritional breakdown information to help design diets with and dissect current diets that you might have been given as a part of your program. It is a pretty comprehensive site that still refers to the government’s antiquated food pyramid system, yet the breakdown menus are definitely helpful when one doesn’t have time to peruse the Nutrition Almanac (the bible of nutrition) If you don’t already have one these copies of these book in your library – don’t try designing any other diets without one. It’s like driving a car blind folded.
But in a pinch and pressed for time, this site is pretty cool.
Once you search for your food of choice the program will ask if you’re adding anything to the meal. For example, type in “Corn Flakes” and you’ll have the option of adding milk to the meal. Once the website has all the information it needs it will tell you how many servings from the various food groups your meal includes, as well as how many “extras” are included – that is, sugar, solid fats and alcohol.
Features
- search the database of almost any food.
- nutritional information from the US Department of Agriculture.
- breaks down foods into food group categories.
- a quick source of reliable nutritional information.
